Walk - Brisbane Valley Rail Trail (Mt. Hallen to Esk)

General Information:  

For those who don’t wish to ride, the section of rail trail from Mt. Hallen down to Esk seems to be the most walker friendly of what we cycled recently. The 10km with a gentle 100metre altitude loss makes for a scenic walk through both timbered & farming countryside. There are few nearby roads, so you’ll likely have the trail to yourselves apart from some cyclists who were all respectful & courteous from our observations.

We were pleasantly surprised by how well maintained the trail was. It may prove to be a little hard under foot for walkers so make sure to wear comfortable footwear. As you enter Esk there is an option to take a more picturesque route beside the creek.

All going to plan the cyclists should be able to join the walkers for lunch in Esk. It’s your choice to take either a picnic lunch to enjoy in the park near the old railway station or buy lunch at one of the many eateries in town. There’s a history trail around town to walk after lunch if you still have energy.
