General Information:

Mt Greville is a remnant plug of the Scenic Rim shield volcano, which has eroded away to leave spectacular peaks, valleys and mountain ranges.

We begin our ascent as soon as we leave the carpark, making our way up the shady and impressive Waterfall Gorge until we crest the eastern shoulder of the mountain with views from Slab Rock across Lake Moogerah.

From there we spiral traverse around a cliff-line ascending further to reach the summit with a rocky ridge facing north-west towards Cunningham's Gap, and vegetation window looking south-east towards Mnts Maroon & Barney.

Our descent takes us down South-East Ridge for expansive views of the panorama from Mt Huntley on the Great Dividing Range through to Mt Barney on the McPherson Range. It is one of my favourite places to appreciate the majesty of the Scenic Rim.

Walk Rating:   M66

At 6km this is not a long walk, but it is unrelentingly steep ascending 600m in 3km. We can take our time with plenty of breaks, but please consider your fortitude to enjoy the climb.

Waterfall Gorge involves rock-hopping and climbing up rocky steps, and in other steep sections there are some loose stones.

I am keen to assist anyone wanting to visit this mountain, but if in any doubt about your abilities please discuss them and the track conditions with Jason.

What to Bring:

Sturdy footwear, hat, backpack, first-aid kit, raincoat & jacket, lunch & snacks, at least 2L of water, camera/phone, sense of adventure.
