Comfort Bay Perseverance Dam

We will gather at Cobb & Co Carpark, Lindsay St. (between the Museum & TAFE College on Lindsay St.) at 7.00am. We will then sign on & carpool out to the start of the walk.

We will park our vehicles opposite the conference centre over the dam wall at Perseverance Dam. There are public toilets available here to use prior to the start of the walk.

We will make our way alongside the eastern edge of the conference centre and onto a track with some canopy that leads us up and on to a ridge line, where we will link up with a fire trail. Following this paralleling the edge of the dam for some time. If inclined, we will make our way up to where Oakey Ck. flows into the dam, for a quick smoko ,before heading back alongside the dam and a side trail that will lead us to our destination.

Here, we will stop for a break and contemplate what was once there. There is a sizeable section of the walk that is out in the open, with some long grass to negotiate along the way. We will encounter a steepish hill along the way which we’ll take our time negotiating. At the time of writing this article, the dam levels are down considerably. There are some islands that are quite noticeable with the low water levels. We will return via the same route partially.

Should there be sufficient interest, a stop for coffee/cake afterwards at Crow’s Nest will be considered !
