Weekend Leader:
Brian Hodges, 0419 355 394, brianhodges021@gmail.com
Meeting Point:
Foxbar Falls Campground Reception
Distance & Driving Time:
Approximately 150km and 2 hours
Dog Friendly:
Yes, dogs on a lead allowed.
Water Sports:
Bring kayaks, canoes, SUP, and your swimmers.
Brian will lead the weekend, but Monica DH will coordinate registrations and answer questions.
Booking/Registration:
A group booking has been made for 5 x Lakeside Trees unpowered camping sites, plus LS8 & LT1 powered camping sites, and 4 x Edith's Edge powered camping sites - you don't need to make your own booking - but you must register via Member Jungle, so sites can be apportioned and overflow sites booked as necessary.
As the group size is getting quite large, we may overflow into the Arches Campground - to be confirmed.
In Lakeside Trees, LS8 & LT1 powered camping sites have been reserved for Bruce and Roger. There are 4 Powered Sites at Edith's Edge, and E4 has been reserved for Roby. Three more Powered sites are available, please advise Monica if you need a Powered site, the rest will be allocated on a first-come basis starting on the Friday.
Payment - On arrival, proceed to the office to make full payment. Brendon has kindly done us a deal with a special group rate of $15 per person Unpowered, and $20 Powered. The other advantage is payment is not site-specific so you can pull up at reception, pay, then worry about where to camp. Make sure you say thanks to Brendon!
Walks Itinerary:
Brian will organise the walks and conduct pre-walk preparations in the days leading up to the trip. Hopefully, there will be sufficient reception to share walk details in the Member Jungle Chat for 'Foxbar Falls.' Reception is limited (except at the summit of Mt Ferguson), but Facebook Messenger generally works. Otherwise, we can communicate face-to-face.
If you can't find anything to do, head up to Wallaroo Dam for a swim.
Directions - The street address is 375 Goldfields Road, Amiens (21 kms northwest of Stanthorpe)
You do not go into Stanthorpe. I like to turn off at The Big Apple at Thulimbah, there are a few different turnoffs you can take. It is well signed off Amiens Road. Your GPS and Google Maps may take you the wrong way as you near Foxbar Falls - do not take the Harslett Road turnoff - follow the signs instead, and you can't go wrong. Remember, it is a vegetable farm as well as a campground, so when you see fields of carrots you have come to the right place.
Firewood - Being private property, whenever I've camped in December fires have been allowed. They have fire pits on each site and sell decent firewood for $15/box (approx 20kg), however, you may bring in your own.
Ice - is also available for purchase for $5/bag.
Water - There is potable water available at the property, but they recommend bringing drinking water if you’re particular about taste.
